Winfried Althaus CEO, KGS Software GmbH: "We are very pleased to announce the entry of GENUI and would also like to thank our previous investor Maxburg for the excellent cooperation over the last few years. With GENUI we have a new strong partner and an exciting network at our side with whom we will realize the next expansion stage of kgs. GENUI is an investment company founded by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs that focuses on "good entrepreneurship" and makes investments in companies with the aim of creating sustainable growth and social value. "It is very important for us that, in addition to the common business objectives, the investors' values also match ours - it seems that GENUI and kgs have sought and found each other," says Althaus.
"The global market for archiving company information will grow steadily in the coming years," explains Boris Klenk from GENUI. The main drivers of this development are the growing volume of data and the legal requirements for data archiving. With its expertise and intelligent archiving solutions, kgs can help to archive data efficiently, ecologically and compliantly.
"This makes kgs an exciting company for us," adds Klenk. Upon completion of the transaction, GENUI entrepreneur Klaus Weinmann will become Chairman of the Advisory Board of kgs. Weinmann founded Cancom and managed it for many years. He therefore has relevant experience in the scaling of IT companies. Dr. Bernd-Michael Rumpf, former CEO of SAP Systems Integration AG and member of the extended Executive Board of SAP AG, will join the Advisory Board.
Maxburg Beteiligungen III had secured a majority stake in kgs in 2018, which GENUI is now acquiring. "We have supported kgs in a high-growth phase in recent years," says Moritz Greve, Partner at Maxburg. "Now we are pleased that kgs can continue its development with the support of GENUI." Maxburg will continue its commitment to kgs through a co-investment by Maxburg Beteiligungen IV.
For over 20 years, kgs has been helping companies to migrate data and documents from SAP and other leading applications and archive them autonomously. Under the brand "tia®" - the intelligent archive - kgs unites all product modules into a common vision of the intelligent document archive. The Neu-Isenburg-based company is also a global SAP Value Added Solutions Partner and was the first company to receive official certification from SAP for its CMIS interface in 2022.
