The visitors could inform themselves about the technology of Vossloh Kiepe in altogether eight rail vehicles and electric buses on the open-air exhibition ground and railyard. The company unites environment-friendliness and economic efficiency in its products and thus contributes significantly to the development of sustainable public transport.
Vossloh Kiepe presented its modular low-floor light rail vehicle of the type "Karlsruhe Citylink NET" together with its associate company Vossloh Rail Vehicles. This LRV is the first barrier-free LRV that connects the area surrounding Karlsruhe with the inner city of Karlsruhe across the lines. Much attention was also paid to the Rostock LRV of the type TramLink 6N2, another project of Vossloh Kiepe and Vossloh Rail Vehicles. The Tramlinks stand out due to their extremely low energy consumption realised by saving braking energy in so-called supercaps. Further attractions were the LRV of the type TW3000 of the Üstra Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe AG and the four-part low-floor tramcar of the type Tramino of the Braunschweiger Verkehrs-AG, which have been equipped with modern technology from Vossloh-Kiepe. For the first time the Düsseldorf company also presented its extensive modernisation competence at the InnoTrans: Under the motto of "Make something new out of the old" one of the altogether 25 articulated LRVs was presented, which are being refurbished for operation for another 25 years by the Stadtwerke Bonn, the public transport company in Bonn.
"We are happy that we were able to realistically show our many visitors how our electric equipment moves many different types of tramcars and LRVs efficiently and environment-friendly. Moreover, we are very pleased that we could impressively demonstrate our modernisation competence by way of the Bonn LRV. Even the North Rhine-Westphalian Transport Minister Michael Groschek was impressed by this comprehensive project as he visited us", says Thomas Milewski, Sales Manager of Vossloh Kiepe GmbH.
The bus sector also focusses on economic efficiency and environment-friendliness: Vossloh Kiepe offers traction and on-board power supply systems as a combination of power supply and energy storage modules that fulfil the customers' specific project requirements. Thus, Vossloh Kiepe's concepts for electric buses can be adapted to all requirements and it is no problem at all to apply them to 12, 18 or 24 m long vehicles.
