Das Umsatzwachstum wird von den Bereichen Mechatronics und Aftermarket getragen. Die Division Mechatronics setzte dabei ihren Wachstumskurs fort und steigerte den Umsatz auf 1.141 MioEUR (+5%). Die Division Aftermarket erzielte einen Umsatz von 225 MioEUR, was einem Zuwachs von 4% entspricht. Die aktuelle Schwäche im Markt für Großkolben sowie der fortdauernde starke Rückgang der Automobilproduktion in Brasilien haben in der Division Hardparts zu einem Umsatzrückgang auf 699 MioEUR geführt, nach 727 MioEUR im Vorjahr.
Die in den Umsatzzahlen des Unternehmensbereichs Automotive nicht enthaltenen Joint Venture-Gesellschaften in China konnten demgegenüber den Umsatz in den ersten neun Monaten des Jahres 2016 um 6% von 587 MioEUR auf 620 MioEUR steigern. Die 100%-Tochtergesellschaften in China legten beim Umsatz um 16% auf 74 MioEUR zu.
Für das Gesamtjahr 2016 wird die Umsatzprognose von Rheinmetall Automotive von rund 2,7 MrdEUR bestätigt. Das Unternehmen rechnet für 2016 mit einer stabilen Entwicklung der Profitabilität, also mit einer Rendite von rund 8%.
