The new Indian company Pierburg India Private Limited is headquartered at Pune, one of India’s most important automotive centers. At present it will concern itself with engineering applications, supplier quality assurance, purchasing, and marketing.
Pierburg’s product range comprises individual components, systems, and modules for air supply and emission reduction. The air supply unit includes as core products intake manifolds and throttle bodies. Pierburg has concentrated chiefly on metallic intake manifolds and, in the production of pressure-cast magnesium manifolds, is worldwide market leader.
In the market for throttle bodies, Pierburg is a major supplier to the European and American carmakers while in the emission control sector, Pierburg with its exhaust gas recirculating valves and secondary air systems, is no. 1 in Europe.
Water, oil and vacuum pump capabilities are concentrated in the sister company Pierburg Pump Technology. Spun out of the Pierburg Group in 2007, this is European leader in the market for water and vacuum pumps. Observable trends in engine technology and innovative products (on-demand and hence consumption-reducing oil and water pumps) will ensure a high-growth future for the division.
Pierburg has been operating in India for 10 years now and is already supplying the Indian auto industry with its components. Together with another KSPG group company, the specialist for high-precision leadfree sliding elements and worldwide leading supplier of plain bearings for engines and Permaglide products KS Gleitlager, the company will display at Auto Expo 2008 in the German Pavillion (15 A 22).
