BioRS version 6 has been completely re-designed with a next-generation search engine and semantic network technology. The new version is built for speed and efficiency with an easy-to-use, responsive interface. It is completely compatible with previous BioRS versions, but more flexible to incorporate future features, growing database sizes, changing security requirements and scale up to comprehensive enterprise knowledge management.
The new version extends the proven BioRS functionality with some notable enhancements:
• Next-generation search engine that provides faster searching, reduced index storage requirements and high scalability
• Responsive, user-centered interface including “favorites” and Web widgets
• More powerful search concepts including global, full-text, fuzzy and proximity searches as well as native numeric field statistics for querying
• Novel parser architecture adapted to the life sciences
• Full support of 64-bit architectures
• Full compatibility with the BioXM™ Knowledge Management Environment
“Organizations today are looking for innovative ways to transform massive amounts of information into the most promising research targets and actionable decisions,” said Dr. Sascha Losko, Head of Product Management at Biomax. “With its modern search engine and responsive design, the new BioRS release gives those organizations an edge on fusing their most valuable in-house resources with public or licensed databases.”
Early adopters have already been upgraded to BioRS v6 as middleware for the BioXM Knowledge Management Environment.
About the BioRS™ Integration and Retrieval System
The BioRS™ Integration and Retrieval System is an enterprise-level solution for integrating and searching distributed information. Adapted to diverse and complex life science data, the BioRS system provides functionality to securely manage and simultaneously search multiple databases in a unified interface.
The BioRS system maintains a collection of standard life science databases, allowing users to immediately share data, perform complex queries and analyze the results in different ways. In addition, clients can choose and suggest other resources (including proprietary and licensed databases) for integration. Flat-file and relational databases (Oracle®, MySQL® and Microsoft® SQL Server®) can be integrated, as well as structured file formats. The BioRS system ensures security within distributed environments and allows safe data sharing among members of large working groups using databanks integrated at multiple locations.
