A bright idea!

Leoni Kerpen and Datentechnik Moll (dtm) develop LED patch cable for clear identification via light signals.

(PresseBox) (Stolberg, )
For the first time, the new Class EA patch cables offer light identification via LED with various different flashing rhythms. They allow cables and connections in offices, in industry and in computer centres to be traced very clearly and rapidly and make it much easier to find a patch.

The light signal is activated with the help of a detector which is inserted into the pair of contacts on the back of the plug. Repeated pressing of the detector button allows you to choose between three different signal types – light on, slow flashing and rapid flashing – depending on the light conditions. The other end of the LED patch cable then reacts with the same light signal, allowing it to be clearly identified.

dtm manufactures the LED patch cables on the basis of the high-quality Megaline F6-90 S/F flex from Leoni Kerpen. The AWG 27 patch cables are produced according to category 6A up to 500 Megahertz. They have a combined shield with pimf (pairs in metal foil) and braiding and are equipped with an RJ45 plug with 360° shielding and a bending protection sleeve on both ends. This combination ensures secure, error-free transmission of signals, including RF signals. Compliance with the quality requirements is tested and published constantly via the "GHMT PREMIUM Verification Program" of the Gesellschaft für Hochfrequenzmesstechnik AG.

The cables are available from dtm with light grey, sky blue, flame red or rape yellow (according to RAL) halogen-free FRNC sheaths. An unshielded LED patch cable with a green sheath is also available for ISDN. In addition, coloured marking clips are available which snap into the RJ45 plugs of the LED patch cables and ensure better marking. Optionally, dtm can equip these clips with RFID chips allowing the automatic detection and storage of the patch cable ID.
