A total of 156 exhibitors from 22 countries presented the latest trends and developments in corrugated and carton manufacture and converting at Europe’s only specialised marketplace for the corrugated and cartonboard industry, on some 4,500 m2 net at the Munich Trade Fair Centre. This represents a growth in exhibitor numbers and floor space of a good third. Open seminars discussing hot topics like ‘Digital Print’, ‘Folding and Gluing’ and ‘Accurate Die-Cutting’ were held alongside the show on all three days.
International visitors from specialised industry sectors
Just like two years ago, the visitors came from all over the world, with 64% of visitors and 82% of exhibitors arriving to Munich from abroad. Most exhibitors were from Italy, Germany, China, Great Britain and the Netherlands. The most represented countries in terms of visitors were Germany, Italy, Poland, Great Britain, Spain, Austria, France, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Switzerland.
The majority of the trade visitors came from corrugated board plants and sheet plants (52%), were folding carton converters (25%), packaging designers (17%) and corrugated sheet feeders (15%). The dominating industry segments that visitors work in were the food and beverage industry (45%), transport and logistics (26%), electrical appliances and electronics (24%) as well as cosmetics (21%), furniture (20%) and pharmaceuticals (18%).
The main areas of interest for visitors were corrugated converting equipment (45%), printing equipment (41%), corrugating line (38%), folding carton converting equipment (33%), raw materials and consumables (32%) as well as machine and plant control (27%).
“We have received very positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors alike“, explains Nicola Hamann, Managing Director of the show organisers Mack Brooks Exhibitions. “The exhibitors met exactly the target group of decision makers that they were aiming at. At the same time, the visitors had a significant benefit in terms of information about new developments and trendsetting technology know-how. This allows participants to adapt to the current market demands and to position themselves correspondingly. As a customised complement to the exhibition, the new open seminars on ‘Digital Print‘, ‘Folding and Gluing‘ and ‘Accurate Die-Cutting‘ were very much appreciated during the three show days.“
