There was lively trading activity throughout the exhibition halls and outdoor area, and a large number of exhibitors were able to report positive sales figures, although the airport industry is currently facing a difficult economic situation with passenger and freight figures being down. However, airport professionals are starting to have a more positive outlook again.
“The figures for exhibitors, visitors and exhibition space at inter airport Europe 2009 are almost identical to those of 2005”, comments Nicola Hamann, Exhibition Director on behalf of the organisers, Mack Brooks Exhibitions. “It was obvious though that in times like these, we could not match the figures of the record event in 2007. However, we see it as a big success to be able to announce identical results to 2005, which was an exceptional year for the airport industry.
Visitors were able to discover a wide range of new and enhanced products and systems at inter airport Europe this week, on a total net exhibition surface of 22,500 m2. Products and services on display included security systems; passenger, baggage and freight handling; air traffic control; GSE as well as airport construction and terminal design. Visitors enjoyed inter airport Europe 2009 as this year’s highlight event for the airport industry, and with bright sunshine on most of the exhibition days, they could take particular advantage of the spacious outdoor area.
The next inter airport Europe will take place from 11-14 October 2011, also at the Munich Trade Fair Centre. Before inter airport Europe 2011, Mack Brooks Exhibitions will also hold inter airport China, from 15-17 September 2010 in Beijing; Airport Expo, from 9-11 November in Las Vegas; and inter airport India, from 8-10 March 2011 in Mumbai.
