Sporty classic cars with the star at Mechatronik
Traditionally the Mercedes-Benz specialists Mechatronik present new highlights from their offerings and give visitors insights into their work. Lust for open-top driving makes a 280 SL W113 Series. This pagoda convinces through "matching numbers" and low mileage. The counterpoint is an M-SL, which thanks to modern technology is suited for very brisk movement. In addition, this M-SL is also an eye-catcher, combining white lacquer with black chrome trim and bumpers, tone on tone with leather upholstery and carpets.
Moreover, Mechatronik drives up in a rare CLK-GTR. This AMG-made supercar with 612 hp has been derived from a GT1 racecar and built in this form only 20 times. The silver metallic painted CLK-GTR is the number 12 and its cost when unveiled in 1999 was about three million Deutschmarks.
Oldtimer Land shows street legal race car
There is rarely a more radical and brute street-legal road sports car than the Porsche 935 Kremer K3, exhibited at Techno Classica by Oldtimer Land. Actually, this is a thoroughbred racing car, which was racing in Le Mans. According to its builder and Porsche specialist Kremer, 98 percent on the racing base remained, the 740-bhp sports car had to be only slightly modified for MOT approval. This unique piece was built on behalf of the Canadian team owner Walter Wolf, who had consequently painted the car also in the team color midnight blue.
Lovers of Italian sportiness and elegance will also find something at Oldtimer Land. On display is an Alfa Romeo Sprint Zagato, a sports car with its outer shell made of fiberglass reinforced plastic and stablized by a steel skeleton. Between 1990 and 1992 only 999 copies of the S.Z. were built, costing around 100,000 Deutschmark those days. The peculiarity of the exhibit is its new condition with a guaranteed mileage of 291 miles.
A case for connoisseurs is also the OSCA GT2 1600 from 1962. Only 128 copies of the elegant sports car were built, of which 24 with a body of Fissore, like this creme white exhibit. Manufactured by the Maserati brothers, which between 1947 and 1967 built sports and racing cars under the brand Officine Spezializzata Costruzioni Automobili - short OSCA.
