The 50 honored businesses are dynamic owner-managed companies that have proven to be especially successful in economic development and sustainability. Businesses were honored that have had an increase in the number of employees and average sales in recent years.
The goal of the award is to strengthen public recognition of the economic and social importance of medium-sized businesses. Among the award winners for 2016 were businesses of various sizes and branches throughout Bavaria. The prize winners were chosen by the accounting firm Baker Tilly Roelfs in cooperation with the Bavarian Ministry of Business. The 2000 businesses approved for competition were analyzed through a databank and identified through the support of local chambers, authorities and associations.
The assessment took into consideration a 5-year time period so that the growth in sales and employees was assured. The most important criteria in the selection were that the business owner must be in management or on a supervisory board of the business as well as owning shares in the company. In addition, the company must have shown an above average growth in sales and number of employees in the previous 5 years. The business should also show promise of positive business development for 2016 and have an adequate equity ratio.
