As with all members of NEC Electronics F Series MCUs, the new 32-bit V850ES/Fx3-L(TM) MCUs are also based on NEC Electronics' innovative in-house 0.15-micron process technology. This enables the devices to execute up to 29 million instructions per second (Dhrystone MIPS) at a clock speed of only 20 MHz. Depending on the device version, internal memory - Flash ROM from 64 to 256 Kbytes and RAM from 6 to 12 Kbytes - are provided. All MCUs support the controller area network (CAN) and local interconnect network (LIN) protocols.
The new 32-bit V850ES/Fx3-L(TM) MCUs are available in 64-pin, 80-pin and 100-pin packages that are pin-compatible with NEC Electronics' previous generation V850ES/Fx2(TM) devices.
Software and hardware compatibility guarantees a migration path for eventual future upgrades to high-end V850ES/Fx3(TM) MCUs. In addition, all V850ES/Fx3 and V850ES/Fx3-L derivatives share the same hardware and software development tools.
Including the 13 new 32-bit V850ES/Fx3-L MCUs, NEC Electronics now offers a total of 29 V850ES/Fx3 MCUs for automotive control applications.
Samples of the V850ES/Fx3-L MCUs are available in June 2008. Volume production is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2008.
