Teltow-based pei tel Communications GmbH, known for its expertise in professional mobile radio (PMR) and system solutions, is scheduled to present its new car phone, PTCarPhone 3c, and the Web-based user software traxactive at this year’s International Motor Show (IAA), in Frankfurt. This year’s event marks the 64th time that automotive manufacturers, suppliers, and OEMs have come together for the IAA in Frankfurt. This year, pei tel will once again be represented at the peiker booth, where the company will present the latest version of its successful car phone. The new PTCarPhone 3c features an advanced handset in a modern design. It also boasts improved technical features, including a high-contrast color display with colors that can be adjusted individually to the vehicle’s interior. The new handset also offers further improved speech and audio quality in private mode.
The well-known performance features of the PTCarPhone 3 are also reflected in the PTCarPhone 3c. It offers users not only the option of connecting a second, fully operable handset, but also the same extraordinarily high speech and audio quality. Proven functions such as the ability to switch between private and hands-free mode are also built into the device. The data interface, which can be used to transmit various types of data, now comes standard, so it is also included in the PTCarPhone 3c. The recently added “panic button” function, which automatically places a call for help to a predefined phone number, will also be featured in the new device. This function is especially suitable for taxis, buses, and public transit vehicles, since it can be concealed when installed. When the operator presses the button, a “silent alarm” can be placed, with results including establishment of an undetectable voice connection. In addition to the standard PTCarPhone 3c, a configuration with an integrated GPS module will also be available. The new PTCarPhone 3c is scheduled to become available in the first quarter of 2012.
All customers that have already decided in favor of a PTCarPhone 3 will be provided with a firmware update when the new PTCarPhone 3c is released. The update will enable PTCarPhone 3 users to operate the new handset with their existing unit without any restrictions in functionality by comparison to the PTCarPhone 3c. The firmware can be downloaded and installed on the PTCarPhone 3 quickly and easily “over the air” via GPRS/EDGE.

When combined with the PTCarPhone 3 GPS, traxactive, the intelligent online platform for tracking, tracing, and telecommunications, allows users to access state-of-the-art technologies to control and optimize their own fleet traffic – easily and conveniently, regardless of location. From precision position location to route logging and analysis and even live map display for one or more PTCarPhone 3 systems, dispatchers and route planners can now keep the whole fleet fully under control at all times. traxactive is based on the “x-active” integration form developed by Berlin-based software company ettex GmbH.
Even users of the standard PTCarPhone 3 (without GPS) can benefit from many performance features that deliver excellent added value. traxactive offers not only position location features, but also administrative functions. OTA (over-the-air) synchronization lets users wirelessly view and edit contact lists, individual contact entries, and device configurations of PTCarPhone 3 systems. The traxactive system can even be used to initiate firmware updates for these devices.
traxactive is compatible with all PTCarPhone 3 and PTCarPhone 3c units and is scheduled for release in November 2011.
