“Our pi4 workerbot3 humanoid robot with its flexibility in tasks and locations is the answer to new demands for highly flexible production and is thereby being experienced today in application of Industry 4.0 philosophy. Through universal application possibilities, the pi4 workerbot3 enables cost-effective production in Europe, therefore ensuring European production locations, or it can even justify bringing production back to Europe again”.

pi4 workerbot3 ™
Innovation in the third generation compared with the second generation:
Stereo camera system in the hands (grippers) for 3D product position identification
Highly flexible grippers for sure gripping of most different articles
New tasks are learned, no longer programed
Ancillary modules for material introduction and removal
With “seeing hands”, the new generation can be used even more flexibly and can recognize and perform position correction itself. The position and orientation of objects to be gripped can be exactly determined with the stereo camera system used in the hands.
The 10 kilogram payload capability with an arm length of 1.3 meters and an additional rotating axis in the waist enables the pi4 workerbot3 to also independently load and unload its work station and deal autonomously with provision of parts. Integrated force monitoring means the robot can equally well be used for cooperative work with humans. It is equipped with integrated highest category safety technology. Aside from use in industrial environments, first applications in the area of service robotics are presently being planned.
Focus has been placed on cost-effective, flexible and rapidly interchangeable use at different work stations. The mobile equipment can be rapidly brought to its new working place – just like a company using a stand-in employee. The robot is equipped with a mobile platform in which the entire control technology is integrated.
Furthermore, and going beyond the so far usual extent in robotics, operating elements and interfaces are feautures included with the robot. Its face is therefore a unique und internationally understandable communications interface. This interface allows operators of all cultures to immediately and intuitively recognize the robot status, without laborious studying of operating manuals.
The pi4 workerbot3 can use its two arms to also perform complex movement tasks very efficiently.
For example: easy performance of joining tasks with both arms, but without additional supports. Integrated image processing and force sensor technology enable realization of “sensitive” joining tasks with simultaneous quality control of both final products and the semi-finished products used to make them.
Due to its flexibility, the pi4 workerbot3 can be used universally for different types of tasks, even for those demanding a high degree of caution and precision. This makes it economically and technically attractive for work that could be so far performed only by humans, on account of complexity or too high set-up effort and costs associated with it.
Typical work of the pi4 workerbot3 can be seen in the attached videos and in videos published in Internet on the Youtube video channel, i.e. testing and packing plastic parts in an industrial environment.

Efficiency analysis:
Base price for the pi4 workerbot3-5: EUR 69,499.-- (net)
Selection of all options incl. training: EUR 34,420.-- (net)
Total EUR 103,919.-- (net)
(all prices can be seen in the Webshop !)
Assumption: use of the pi4 workerbot3 in shift operation for an industrial work station, based on an hourly pay rate for an employee of EUR 25.-- per hour incl. all ancillary costs (?!), but ignoring employee illness and holiday periods, as well as electricity costs of the workerbot3, as these are very low (approx. 0.5 EUR), and possible finance costs !
Result: according to the following amortization calculations (non-binding calculation examples):
a) 1-shift operation
Annual costs for 1 employee = EUR 51,600.-- therefore full amortization after 24 months
b) 2-shift operation
Annual costs for 2 employees = EUR 103,200.-- therefore full amortization after 12 months
c) 3-shift operation
Annual costs for 3 employees = EUR 154,800.-- therefore full amortization after 8.06 months
d) 4-shift operation
Annual costs for 4 employees = EUR 206,400.-- therefore full amortization after 6.04 months
Pi4 is also taking new approaches in sales with the pi4 workerbot3, in order to enable inexpensive and fast access to the product,so that the pi4 workerbot3 is now available in our Webshop:
