During the qualifying trials on Saturday, Adam Lacko earned himself pole position. During the first race, he was battling for a third place right behind Markus Bösiger (second). He crossed the finishing line just ahead of Markus Oestreich (fourth). For the second race on the Saturday, the Renault Trucks drivers finished in reverse order. Markus Oestreich was on the top step of the podium, Adam Lacko on the third while Bösiger came in sixth.
Before the first race on Sunday, Markus Oestreich grabbed pole position. At the end of this first race, Oestreich was on the second step of the podium, with Markus Bösiger just missing the third step by a hair. Finally, during the fourth race of the weekend, with a reverse order start, Adam Lacko made it to the top of the podium.
In the overall rankings, Adam Lacko and Markus Oestreich are jostling for third place with Lacko at 247 points, only 10 points ahead of Oestreich. Since the beginning of the season, Markus Bösiger has chalked up a total of 220 points, which puts him in sixth position. The points won this weekend have enabled the drivers to move up on their rivals in the individual championships as well as the "Manufacturer" competition. The gap is closing. There are still eight races to go at Jarama and Le Mans before the end of the Championship. Everything is still possible...
During this weekend, when Renault Trucks colours were everywhere, various attractions got the message across to the 20,000 visitors attending that the manufacturer was this event's main partner via its Belgium-Dutch subsidiary. Everyone called it the "Renault Trucks Grand Prix". On the track, the Pace Truck boasted the Renault Trucks colours for all four races, while around the track almost 1,800 customers had been invited by the subsidiary, nearly one third more than last year. There was also the Sherpa Cape to Cape on display, the Premium Long Distance Truck Racing special edition and the Premium Lander OptiTrack, as well as three Master by Renault Trucks Vehicles (a tipper, a panel van and a "high-volume" panel van).
The next races will take place on 1 and 2 October in Jarama (Spain) for the penultimate leg of the European Truck Racing Championship.
