One of these industries is the steel industry for which Rohmann developed the HST-3. The abbreviation HST stands for Hard Spot Tester. The inspection trolley detects partial material hardenings, so called hard spots. The minimalistic design of the HST-3 is due to the rough environment in steel mills, where it is deployed. The trolley is designed for the manual testing of large semi-finished products with the Eddy+ procedure. The patented and unique testing method has also been developed by Rohmann.
The maximum testing width is 64 cm. Eight probes each with eight integrated single sensors are employed. The HST-3 operates independent of the mains owing to the integrated lithium-ion batteries. The digital ELOTEST PL600 eddy current testing instrument is integrated in the carriage. The instrument is the latest technical development by Rohmann. It excels due to the unsurpassed signal purity and also its modular structure. The recorded test results are displayed on a toughbook, which is included in the delivery.
