Für das Demonstrator-Projekt der Organic Electronics Association (OE-A) hat Schreiner VarioLight mit drei Partnern einen zukunftsweisenden Prototyp entwickelt. Im Fokus der Entwicklungsarbeit stehen Hybridsysteme, die konventionelle Elektronikbauteile und gedruckte Strukturen kombinieren.
Der neueste Prototyp ist ein Gemeinschaftsprodukt von Schreiner VarioLight, dem Chip-Drucker PolyIC, dem Batteriehersteller Varta Microbattery und H.C. Starck, Spezialist für High-Tech-Materialien. Das Modell ermöglicht den Betrieb von Elektrolumineszenz-Folien ohne eigene Energiequelle. Stattdessen wird radiofrequente Feldenergie genutzt, wie sie auch zum Auslesen von RFID-Chips im Einsatz ist. Sie lässt sich kontaktlos auf die Folie übertragen und sorgt dort für einen Leuchteffekt. Endet die Funkverbindung, ermöglicht ein Akku eine komfortable Restlaufzeit.
