For almost two decades now, Sensor-Technik Wiedemann (STW) has developed and produced cylinder pressure and common rail sensors for use in large diesel, gas and dual-fuel engines based on its own thin-film technology. Function layers especially developed for this application, particularly robust structural and connection technology and a patented procedure for the reduction of loads on the sensor membrane caused by the temperature shock wave occurring during the combustion process make STW sensors stand out against competitor products on the market.
In addition to new challenges regarding the robustness of measurement systems, for example through increasing peak pressures, the requirements on evaluation electronics are also becoming more stringent.
