"Wir begrüßen die Ausnahmeregelung, denn ohne die Schwermetalle Blei und Cadmium werden optische Gläser zu nutzlosem Fensterglas. Ausgewählte Schwermetalle sind ein unverzichtbarer Bestandteil von optischen Gläsern, für die es keine Alternative gibt", so SPECTARIS-Geschäftsführer Sven Behrens. "Jetzt hoffen wir, dass die EU auch bei der geplanten Verschärfung der RoHS-Richtlinie diesen Maßstab anlegen wird", so Behrens.
Denn Rat und Parlament planen die Verwendung weiterer bestimmter Stoffe in Elektro- und Elektronikgeräten zu begrenzen, um Verbraucher und Umwelt vor Gefahren durch chemische Substanzen zu schützen. Am 14. Oktober soll der RoHS-Recast im Umweltrat verabschiedet werden, die Abstimmung im Europäischen Parlament folgt am 22. November. SPECTARIS führt weiterhin Gespräche in Berlin, Bonn und Brüssel, in denen sich der Verband für eine tragbare Lösung für optisches Glas in der RoHS-Richtlinie einsetzt.
