The Aerospace Solution was developed by IMG experts at the Aerospace and Defense Business Unit, which was merged into S&T DACH with the acquisition of IMG in 2007. The solution aims to provide an integrated platform to support all tasks and processes in the aerospace sector. To develop it, the team at S&T DACH spent considerable time with small and medium sized businesses in the sector. The solution is designed to completely meet SAP requirements and fulfils the certification criteria of the “SAP Solutions for SME” program.
Support for core business
The Aerospace Solution improves the core business of airline carriers: maximizing the availability of aircraft. In addition, profitability at airline carriers, maintenance companies and suppliers is increased by the provision of efficient and strategic networking between business partners. Against the backdrop of rising cost pressure and increased regulation in the aerospace sector, close partnerships between operators, maintenance companies and suppliers promise better chances for success. This requires company-wide, IT-supported business models. Such business models must create intelligent links between the technical and business management aspects of the newly created network. Information, goods and payment systems must be able to be better managed and controlled, while administrative tasks need to be reduced in order to cut costs and save time. The integration of logistics and accounts is not common in this sector. Rather than integrated ERP solutions, the branch is characterized by a proliferation of partial solutions.
More than an IT solution
The S&T Aerospace Solution includes four further advantages to provide added benefits to customers. It is an integrated IT solution that connects logistics information with management information. This delivers competitive advantages such as increased speed and transparency, which leads to better business performance against competitors. By using outsourcing models for ERP systems, customers can make use of hosting and software-as-a-service solutions that guarantee up-to-date software and ensure transparent IT costs and monthly fees. VPN connections also enable mobile access to the system. The S&T Aerospace Solution is constantly being further developed in order to enhance and perfect new functions to support customer processes. Thomas Burkhardt, Channel Development Manager at SAP (Switzerland) AG confirms: “The Aerospace Solutions platform is much more than an IT solution. It is a new business model for aerospace companies of various sizes.”

S&T DACH experts worked closely with representatives from the aerospace sector during the development of the S&T Aerospace Solution. This enabled the development of an application that offers interfaces between administration, operations and technology. Only seamless service connections between operations, sales and technology can provide clear competitive advantages for the aerospace solutions of the future. “We are delighted to be honored in this way,” said Georg Komornyik, Region General Manager S&T DACH. “Our Aerospace and Defense team draws on many years of expertise in the sector.
