Amongst straightlabs’s newest solutions is their new all-in-one learning app “Business Gaming”, as well as photorealistic learning worlds and augmented reality applications. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Peter Niermann – founder and managing director – and Fabrizio Palmas – creative and technical director at straightlabs – gave the keynote speech “From virtual learning worlds to virtual reality”, in which they spoke about virtual reality as the technology of the future and the straightlabs VR Speech Training, that is already in use in cooperation with the Technical University Munich (TUM).
Thus, straightlabs presented themselves once again as a leading company in the extended reality (XR) sector. “This year we’re at the Learntec for the fourth time in a row with our technological developments. Like every year we’re supporting the development of the XR-market with our innovative products”, so Fabrizio Palmas. The Learntec does not just show the methodical, but also the technological advancements of digital education.
Learning by playing
Next to the forthgoing digitalization in the sector of operational and educational knowledge transfer, playful learning is gaining more and more importance. Examples for terminologies are gamification, game-based learning and gamified learning.
Straightlabs starts at this very point of gamification by combining long-term management and research expertise to a merger of game, didactics and technology. They develop innovative and interactive technologies with virtual reality, in order to convey complex training content in a virtual environment, economically efficient, individually scalable and most importantly with fun. “Started as a research project in 2011, straightlabs has now been researching and developing for over 5 years in the XR sector. While doing so we always keep the goal in mind to make learning more diversified and especially more motivating by means of immersive technologies and storytelling”, so Prof. Dr. Peter Niermann.
