Injection moulding compound with advantages vis-à-vis other epoxy resins
Supraplast 696 is perfectly suited for sensors and lead frames in the automotive industry by overmoulding them and installing them in components in a gas-proof and media-resistant manner. Researchers at the Kunststoffinstitut Südwest, who carried out studies on behalf of Süd-West-Chemie, show bacteria-resistant behaviour of the injection moulding compound to petrol. Furthermore, the components with Supraplast 696 are dimensionally sturdy and show hardly any swelling.
The compound is, however, particularly suitable for application in automotive engines as components overmoulded with Supraplast 696 prove to have excellent properties and optimum tightness in engine oil. “Tests have shown that our epoxy resin injection moulding compound is ideal for application in engines,” explains Sebastian Ziller, Development Manager at Süd-West-Chemie. “Supraplast 696 is also ideal for other components in vehicles and ensures that these components stay resistant in the most diverse media and continue to work correctly.”
Compared to other available epoxy compounds, Supraplast 696 offers even more advantages. It is not only easier to process, but also has an excellent shelf life. The compound doesn’t need to be stored in a fridge or freezer, but can unproblematically be stored at room temperature. In addition, the “emptying” of the injection moulding equipment is easy and can be done without clogging of the compound.
