Konfiguration und Firmware-Upgrade gehören zu den häufigsten Anfragen in der Endkundenbetreuung bei Geräteherstellern bzw. Mobilfunkanbietern und resultieren in zusätzlichen Kosten in Millionenhöhe. Jeden Monat blockieren tausende Endkunden die Hotlines oder warten in Telefonläden auf Hilfe für die Konfiguration oder Upgrade der immer komplexer werdenden Handys.
Der Synchronica Management Server macht die manuelle Konfiguration und das Einsenden des Handys für den Firmware-Upgrade überflüssig und bringt so eine massive Kostenreduktion in der Endkundenbetreuung. Die Benutzer müssen nicht mehr in den Telefonladen gehen oder bei der Hotline auf Hilfe warten - stattdessen kann der Synchronica Management Server das Handy über Funk per SyncML-Standard automatisch aktualisieren und die passende Konfiguration aufspielen.

Der Synchronica Synchronization Server richtet sich zunächst an Gerätehersteller, die die Kosten für Endkundenbetreuung durch automatische Konfiguration und Firmware-Upgrade reduzieren wollen. In der Zukunft wird der Dienst auch für Mobilfunkanbieter und schließlich für Großkunden interessant, die eine große Anzahl von mobilen Endgeräten verwalten und aktualisieren müssen.
Mit SyncML Device Management beseitigt die Industrie eine der letzten Barrieren für die breite Einführung von mobilen Datendiensten - das Konfigurationsproblem.
