EN50155 Certified: Syslogic Presents the Embedded Computer for Railway Use

(PresseBox) (Waldshut-Tiengen, )
Syslogic specializes in embedded box computers for mobile use. With the Railway Computer Compact 71, Syslogic is expanding its line of embedded computers for the railway industry. The company wants to strengthen its position in the railway market with this new embedded computer.

Syslogic, the embedded computing specialists, is expanding its Compact 71 Series with a railway computer. Like other embedded computers in the Compact 71 line, the Railway Computer Compact 71 is based on the Atom E6xxT Series of processors. The Railway Computer Compact 71 has been certified for the railway industry in accordance with the EN50155 railway standard for TX class systems.

Robust M12 connectors defy heavy shocks and vibrations

The M12 connectors, which will stand up to heavy shocks and vibrations, are an additional feature of the Railway Computers Compact 71. Two RS-232 interfaces, as well as an Ethernet and a VGA interface, are controlled using the M12 connectors. In addition, the Railway Computer has two standard USB interfaces for quick updates while in service. Optionally, the devices can also be extended using CAN and RS-485 interfaces, also through the M12 connectors.

Embedded processors with minimal power consumption

Intel processors achieve performance levels of 600 megahertz to 1.6 gigahertz, depending on the model. All processors share minimal power consumption as a feature. Aside from this, the Railway Computer has a real-time clock (RTC), which draws its power from a gold cap, or optionally, from a battery.

No moving parts and certification for extended temperature ranges

Like all Syslogic industrial computers, the Railway Computer dispenses with moving parts. It is suitable for continuous use (24/7) and has been approved for the extended temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius at the component level.

Raphael Binder, Product Manager at Syslogic, sees many uses for the Railway Computer Compact 71. "The Railway Computer is suitable for use, for example, as an on-board computer or as a digital video recorder." Thanks to the railway certification and its uncompromising industrial construction, this device is ideal for the railway industry, according to Mr. Binder.
