GTA V, Best Game of the Year at the 3rd Fun & Serious Game Festival Award Gala

Many Familiar Faces at the Campos Elíseos Theatre

Last evening, Bilbao played host to the award gala of the 3rd Fun & Serious Game Festival, where Grand Theft Auto V was given the most important award, that for Best Game of 2013.

The gala was hosted by actress and singer Leonor Watling (Marlango), actor Antonio Velázquez (Tierra de Lobos, Paquirri) and Basque actress Bárbara Goenaga (Amar es para siempre, Timecrimes). Special guests giving the awards included Manuela Velasco ([REC], Águila Roja), Leticia Dolera ([REC]3 Genesis, De tu ventana a la mía), Cristina Castaño (La que se avecina), María Botto (Pelotas) and Diego Pérez (Vaya Semanita), among others.

The contested Award for Best Game of the Year was scooped by Greg Weller, from Rockstar North.

Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V), the most expensive game ever, also got the award for Best Xbox 360 Game. 

This is the full list of winners:

- Best PC Game: BioShock Infinite, scooped by Bernardo Hermoso.

Irrational Games completes the BioShock trilogy taking us to the floating city of Columbia. Amazing graphic details and a plot full of powerful morals.

- Best Mobile Game: Candy Crush Saga, picked up by Tommy Palm.

Candy Crush Saga is a successful puzzle game for mobiles with a high addictive potential and an effective business formula: a million user base with an average revenue of €15 a month per user.

- Best Online/Web Game: Candy Crush Saga, also picked up by Tommy Palm.

- Best Xbox 360 Game: GTA V, received by David Gómez.

Rockstar North has come up with the most ambitious Grand Theft Auto release. No wonder it is the most expensive game ever - and the first to go beyond €1,000 million in less than 72 hours.

- Best Wii U Game: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, scooped by Andre Gosselin.

The latest game in the Assassin's Creed saga reflects the golden age of pirates like no other. A step further in the franchise, led by Captain Edward Kenway.

- Best Nintendo 3DS Game: Pokémon X and Y, received by Omar Álvarez.

The new Pokémon game takes a qualitative leap in terms of gameplay and visual effects. Only in Japan, 3 million users already know this.

- Best PS Vita Game: Rayman Legends, picked up by Emile Morel.

Rayman Legends pays tribute to classic games as one of the best titles in this genre. The PS Vita touchscreen adds to it, with levels to play with family or friends.

- Best PlayStation 3 Game: The Last of Us, given to Roberto Yeste López.

Naughty Dog adds a golden clasp to PlayStation 3 with an adventure and survival game that makes the most of this platform's technical features as it takes game narrative to the next level.

- Best Role-Playing Game: Ni no Kuni, collected by David Fraile.

Long-awaited, this Japanese Role-Playing Game (JRPG) masterpiece came to Spain thanks to the efforts of Level 5 and the skill of the Japanese animation film studio Ghibli.

- Best Action Game: GTA V, scooped by Silvia Cabrera.

- Best Adventure Game: The Last of Us, received by Roberto Yeste López.

- Best Social Game: Just Dance 2014, scooped by Esther Solanas.

The multi-million euro franchise Just Dance squeezes the capabilities of Nintendo after gaining fame from its predecessor. There is no better choice for party entertainment.

- Best Sports Game: NBA 2K14, given to Jesús Sotillo.

Considered by critics to be the best basketball simulation game produced so far, NBA 2K14 makes the impossible possible: to take each and every feature in its predecessors to the next level.

- Best Racing Game: Forza Motorsport 5, collected by Francisco Arteche.

This racing simulator reaches Xbox One with 200 vehicles recreated with amazing realism, taking realistic appearance and gameplay as its premises. Moreover, Turn 10 Studios has succeeded in conveying real racing sensations, courtesy of the new controller.

- Best Game Script: GTA V, scooped by Raquel García.

- Best Game Soundtrack: The Last of Us, given to Roberto Yeste López.

- Best E-Sports Game: League of Legends, collected by Edgar Medina.

- Best Marketing Campaign: World of Tanks, picked up by Mathieu Brossette.

- Best Game Saga: Assassin's Creed, collected by Andre Gosselin.

- Best Indie Game: Nihilumbra, picked by the game's creator, Kevin Cerdà.

In this magical evening, awards were given to the best serious games in several categories too:

Best Business Strategy Serious Game: Bonds Training, collected by Juan Manuel de Lara.

This gaming project is aimed at introducing a complex financial product - fixed-income securities - in an entertaining way so that users can see what happens when they make a good or a bad investment.

Best Education and Learning Serious Game: Cargo Dynasty, scooped by Mikkel Lucas Overby.

This serious game was developed by Serious Games Interactive, a Danish developer of serious games, simulations and virtual worlds.

Best Health Serious Game: Plan-It Commander, picked up by Marijn Kraakman.

This serious game by Healthy Solutions is targeted at children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), helping them plan ahead and manage their time more efficiently.

Best Culture and Society Serious Game: CAP Odyssey, given to Aida Gochgarian.

This serious game, developed by the Serious Game Factory Project at KTM Advance, is the first game about the EU Common Agricultural Policy, helping to understand its stakes and benefits around the world.
