With 1,100 employees at locations in Austria, Germany, the USA, Spain, Italy, the UK, Poland and France the TGW Logistics Group has an annual turnover of 221.5 million Euros and is a global success story. After introducing their systems integration capabilities in these markets the company is further expanding its international presence by founding a new subsidiary in Gothenburg, Sweden, in October 2010. The new TGW Scandinavia AB will provide the Scandinavian countries with TGW's extensive know-how and latest technologies for designing, implementing, and servicing for dynamic distribution centres.
Think Global - Act Local
It is TGW's approach to develop local competencies with people who speak the local language and know the local culture to better meet the clients' demands in logistics solutions. "At TGW we are committed to the internationalisation of our systems integration activities" comments Georg Kirchmayr, President of TGW Logistics Group GmbH, adding: "As we are willing to meet the demands of the Scandinavian market it is essential to push ahead with the local presence providing professional support for the customers in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden."
The Northern European countries are an important market for TGW. The company's systems and sub-systems are already operating in many of the high-performance distribution centres in these countries and Kirchmayr is delighted to be able to service both existing and potential customers even better now.
Hans Sparf is to Lead TGW's Scandinavian Operations
"We are very happy to welcome Hans Sparf at TGW", says Georg Kirchmayr. "His expert know-how, his knowledge of the local markets and his managerial qualities make him the ideal Managing Director for TGW Scandinavia AB." Hans Sparf has been working in the material handling industry since 1984 in different managerial functions. He will establish the new entity and form a team of experienced people to provide systems design, realization management and lifetime services to the customers.
As a follow-up to the highly successful individual projects that have been implemented together with business partners in the Scandinavian market for customers in the food industry, grocery retail, apparel distribution, e-commerce and other industries, the aim is to further establish TGW as systems integrator in the market. "TGW designs, manufactures, installs, and services equipment like conveyors, high-speed sorters, AS/RS (automated storage and retrieval systems), and their integration into a system with its own software and controls technology. With more than 350 AS/RS machines produced per year, TGW is certainly a global player in the material handling world" Hans Sparf concludes.
TGW will take up a central position in this market with the new branch in Gothenburg, gaining a significantly more direct access to the potential market. "I am delighted to be a member of the TGW Logistics Group", says Hans Sparf. "Starting up the business in Scandinavia will certainly be challenging, but I see a great potential for TGW's innovative material handling, warehousing and order fulfilment solutions here in Northern Europe."
