UL and ift Rosenheim have a long tradition of successful collaboration in testing and certification for fire protection. Their collaboration will build upon and strengthen this already solid foundation.
To that end, UL is building a laboratory facility in the vicinity of ift Rosenheim. As part of the collaboration with ift Rosenheim, required tests for fire behavior, fire resistance and smoke protection, which form the basis of internationally relevant certificates, will be processed much more quickly and effectively. "The central location in Europe, easy accessibility, the excellent infrastructure and, of course, the synergies that come from cooperating with ift Rosenheim are all excellent arguments for Rosenheim as a location", says Ingo M. Rübenach, UL Vice President for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
"ift Rosenheim will also benefit from the cooperation. UL certificates are not just very important for construction projects and products in the USA, but also for the Middle East and Asia. As a result, manufacturers and system providers will have access to nearly all tests and certifications required around the world – from a single provider, at one location", says Prof. Ulrich Sieberath, Director of ift Rosenheim.
The negotiations and construction planning for the new laboratory facility have already commenced, with the new lab slated for opening in 2017. This cooperation and new laboratory demonstrate how UL is continuing to expand its business to better serve manufacturers in Europe.
