Technology for people - made by WITTENSTEIN
The WITTENSTEIN Group has taken "greentelligence" - the theme of this year's Hanover Fair - and applied it to its own core competencies: high-tech products and systems made by WITTENSTEIN fly into space and win Formula One races; they control machines for extracting natural gas on the sea bed and help stimulate the growth of human bones. Future novel technologies will increasingly reflect the worldwide desire for resource efficiency and sustainability.
WITTENSTEIN alpha GmbH: LP+ Generation 3
Innovations are driven by market and user needs. Noise reduction, energy efficiency and downsizing are the three main trends in drive technology. WITTENSTEIN alpha has responded to this demand by subjecting one of its true "classics" to a comprehensive overhaul with the result that is now better than ever: the third generation of the LP+ planetary gearhead series, which will be launched to coincide with the Hanover Fair, represents yet another milestone in gearbox development in this performance class. This versatile performer, which made its début back in 1993 and was upgraded in 2004 with significantly improved characteristics, has now been further optimized to provide designers of feed axes, handling systems, packaging machines and industrial machinery in general with multiple technical and economic benefits.
New design and machining processes have enabled WITTENSTEIN alpha to realize an impressive performance leap. The transmitted torques are now up to 75% higher than the industry standard. The new gearhead is also much quieter thanks to the optimized gearing parts and tooth flank geometry - the noise level has been more than halved. At the same time, LP+ Generation 3 gearheads open up important downsizing options for users.
The new LP+ Generation 3 series from WITTENSTEIN alpha sets new performance benchmarks in its class.
WITTENSTEIN as a partner for renewable energy projects
WITTENSTEIN cyber motor, a subsidiary of the WITTENSTEIN Group, has come up with something to arouse the interest of energy conscious homeowners: an integrated generator built by WITTENSTEIN cyber motor is a key component of the ENFLO 0110, a compact wind turbine from WindTec Systems that can be installed without a permit. The permanently excited synchronous motors, which were optimized specifically for this customer application, feature not only very quiet running and a space-saving design but also a greatly reduced weight / power ratio (kg / kW) and far higher efficiency - up to 98% - than can be achieved with asynchronous technology. The wind turbine is thus more than just a simple "rotor plus motor". It was the fine tuning work undertaken together with the customer during the design and optimization of the generator that helped make the development of this novel wind turbine such an exciting project.
High-performance motors for tomorrow's world
WITTENSTEIN's experience as a mechatronics specialist in a variety of industries has also been applied with considerable success in the electromobility sector. At the "MobiliTec" flagship exhibition in Hanover, the WITTENSTEIN Group will present itself as a development partner for "high-performance motors for tomorrow's world".
The aim is not to serve the mainstream but to capture and retain niche segments. Several cooperative ventures have already been launched with automotive manufacturers. A WITTENSTEIN motor and power electronics are installed in every hybrid vehicle taking part in VW's "twinDRIVE" fleet test, for example. The powertrain for an e-sports car will testify to WITTENSTEIN's development expertise in this field at the VDMA's joint "E-motive" stand.
