Mechatronic system solutions made by WITTENSTEIN in Hall 4, Stand 4-221
WITTENSTEIN motors, gearheads, electronics, sensors and software are optimally integrated and matched to one another, setting new benchmarks for mechatronic drive systems in terms of functionality, reliability, dynamics and precision. The Group will demonstrate its expertise as a system provider of mechatronic drive technology at the Nuremberg SPS/IPC/Drives fair from November 26 to 28, 2013.
Low-backlash planetary gearheads, brushless servo motors and reliable control and power electronics are optimally integrated by WITTENSTEIN to form system solutions for which there is a great demand in many areas both inside and outside "classic" industrial automation. Several Business Units will be present at the Nuremberg exhibition stand (Hall 4, Stand 4-221) to show an array of innovative new and optimized products: optimally integrated, controllable mechatronics for the most diverse applications under the motto "A perfect system - More opportunities with WITTENSTEIN mechatronic drive solutions".
"Unbelievably precise" - nano-precise positioning & sensorics
Applications that nudge the limits of what is physically and technically possible are a speciality of attocube systems AG, WITTENSTEIN's Munich subsidiary. attocube, which has long enjoyed an excellent reputation in the nano technology world and is meanwhile also gaining a foothold in industrial markets, will take advantage of the WITTENSTEIN Group's joint stand to unveil its new displacement sensors with picometre resolution as well as patented piezo positioners for nano-precise positioning.
Visitors to the WITTENSTEIN stand will need to look very closely: these micro motors, which are used not only in micro systems and precision engineering but also in special-purpose machinery, are barely bigger than a dice.
Two attocube products can be seen live "in action" in Nuremberg: the micro motors in the 'Industrial Line' serve, amongst other things, to position optical or mechanical components and can be stacked in up to six axes thanks to their modular design. They have a maximum travel range of 100 mm with 1 nm resolution and 50 nm repeatability.
The attoFPS interferometric displacement sensor measures position errors and changes in the path length in the submicron range and detects vibration as well as the tiniest angular variations on parts and tools up to 1 MHz. Displacement feed rates as high as 1 m/s are no problem for this sensor. What's more, the amazingly small sensor head - just 4 mm in diameter - permits highly precise measurements even at points that are very difficult to reach. Its various interfaces allow data to be output in real time with a sampling rate of 10 MHz. The sensor also operates reliably in extreme conditions from -100°C to > +100°C.
New: "cyber dynamic line" brushless DC motors in hygienic design
WITTENSTEIN cyber motor GmbH has extended its new portfolio of brushless DC motors in the "cyber dynamic line" family with a version offering IP66 / IP67 protection. These brushless servo motors are thus optimally protected against high-pressure water jets and temporary immersion. The three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor in "hygienic design" - the perfect solution for packaging, food processing and pharmaceutical applications - has a welded planetary gearhead, a stainless steel cable gland with optimal sealing properties and a housing that is likewise made of stainless steel and affords maximum protection against corrosion when aggressive cleaning materials are involved.
Maximum conversion efficiency as the key to energy efficient drives
WITTENSTEIN motion control GmbH's TPM+ servo actuator series will also be among the exhibits in Nuremberg, proving how energy efficient drive solutions can be realized despite very high power requirements. Ingenious tricks to maximize energy conversion efficiency and power density are just as crucial as optimal sizing and calculations of cost and CO2 savings.
simco drive - the innovative, smart servo amplifier
WITTENSTEIN motion control's "simco drive" servo amplifier series has now been extended to cover electronically commutated (EC) servo motors with 1 kW peak power. A cabinet version is also available in addition to the single and dual-axis types. Featuring IP65 protection, it can be installed directly adjacent to the actuators, giving designers new degrees of freedom to develop modular machine concepts. The cabinet version is extremely compact, enabling optimum use to be made of the available installation space. The operator is guided by an intuitive graphical user interface whenever the machine is started up, diagnosed or serviced, with the result that this work is completed in minimal time. CANopen, EtherCAT and PROFInet IRT are supported by simco drive as fieldbus interfaces, depending on the model, while EnDat 2.2, BiSS C and resolver are possible encoder interfaces. STO (Safe Torque Off) to SIL2, high resolution current control and event logging with a real-time clock are other product features.
