WSCAD now speaks PLM via OpenPDM

(PresseBox) (Bergkirchen, )
WSCAD and PROSTEP have announced, the seamless integration of WSCAD electrical engineering solutions with all major PLM systems on the market via OpenPDM software from PROSTEP. The data exchange works fully in both directions: from the WSCAD SUITE to the PLM system, and vice versa. Parts, assemblies, documents, complex product structures or PLM metadata are reconciled, and changes are synchronized on an ad hoc basis. Users, in turn, benefit from consistent enterprise-wide data. Time-consuming and error-prone maintenance of data in different systems is thus eliminated.

Technically, on the WSCAD SUITE side the Add-On PLMERPsync is required. The link to the respective PLM system is established through OpenPDM by PROSTEP. The supported PLM applications include, among others, SIEMENS Teamcenter, SAP PLM/ERP, PTC Windchill, Agile ePLM from Oracle or from Dassault Systems: VPMV4, 3D EXPERIENCE and SmarTeam. With OpenPDM, PROSTEP has a proven product that has been well accepted for decades on the market. The WSCAD SUITE offers companies and designers a modular and scalable engineering platform with a central database for six disciplines: electrical engineering, cabinet and panel design, piping and instrumentation, fluid power engineering, building automation and electrical installation.

"The cooperation with PROSTEP is great because we have integrated our electrical CAD solution with leading PLM systems creating significant value add for our customers", explains Axel Zein, CEO of WSCAD electronic GmbH. "In our view PLM systems are the central hub where all engineering data should converge. A PLM integration of electrical engineering data from WSCAD is only logical and extremely useful. "

The move towards PLM integration underlines WSCAD’s strategy to connect different engineering disciplines and provide tangible added value to users throughout the product lifecycle. Due to the seamless integration in both directions, changes applied to part data in WSCAD are immediately visible in the PLM systems and downstream applications.

Support for the implementation is available through senior consultants from WSCAD Global Business Services as well as PROSTEP consultancy.
