IP protection types, type tests and routine tests - What does this mean?
CETA Digital - Online Seminars 2025
The IP protection class tests are type tests. Prototypes and samples are tested in the laboratory strictly in accordance with the specifications of the desired IP protection class. This involves testing the tightness against the ingress of particles and moisture.
Routine testing, on the other hand, serves as proof of consistent production quality. In the manufacture of large quantities of certain products and in some industries - such as the automotive industry - it has been standard practice for years for every product to be 100% tested for moisture during production.
This online seminar deals with IP protection types. Among other things, approaches are presented on how parameters for routine testing can be derived from the specifications of the IP protection type test.
Table of contents
- IP protection types
- IP protection types for selected products and environments
- Limits of IP protection type testing
- Type testing versus routine testing
- Risk minimisation using routine testing
- Routine testing in the context of industrial leak testing
- Approaches for determining the test pressure
- Procedure for deriving a product specific leakage rate
This online seminar is aimed at developers and users who want to gain an overview of type tests in the laboratory in accordance with the specifications of the IP protection types and the implementation of routine tests in the production process.
