Studium Generale: Richard C. Schneider - Nahost – wie weiter?

Am 7. Oktober 2023 überfielen Terrorkommandos der islamistischen Hamas Israel. Sie verübten Massaker an der Zivilbevölkerung, bei denen mehr als 1.200 Menschen getötet wurden, und entführten über 240 Personen. Israel reagierte mit einer massiven Militäroperation in dem von der Hamas kontrollierten Gazastreifen. Bei den Angriffen auf Hamas-Standorte kamen bisher fast 40.000 Menschen ums Leben. Weite Teile der Bevölkerung werden von der Lebensmittelversorgung abgeschnitten und die Gesundheitsversorgung kommt zum Erliegen. Seit Monaten verhandeln die Hamas und Israel über ein mögliches Ende des Gazakrieges, aber derzeit ist noch keine Einigung in Sicht.

Richard C. Schneider wird in seinem Vortrag versuchen Antworten auf die dringendsten Fragen zu finden: Wie nah ist ein Frieden in Gaza und welche Folgen wird ein Ende des Krieges für die Hamas haben? Welche Auswirkungen hat der Krieg auf Israels Sicherheitskonzept und auf sein Ansehen in der Welt? Wie entwickelt sich der Konflikt Israels mit der Hisbollah und dem Iran weiter? Und wie sieht die Zukunft Benjamin Netanjahus, des israelischen Ministerpräsidenten, aus?
