Alpiq ist seit 2008 der führende Vermarkter von Strom aus Kehrichtverbrennungsanlagen (KVA) in der Schweiz. Mit einem neuen KVA-Pool bündelt Alpiq diese Energie und stellt sie Swissgrid als Regelenergie zur Verfügung. Damit leistet der KVA-Pool einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Stabilität des Stromnetzes. Zudem wird die dezentrale Stromproduktion gestärkt.

Die Schweizer Kehrichtverbrennungsanlagen produzieren pro Jahr mehr als 1 300 000 000 kWh (oder auch 1 300 GWh) Strom. Davon vermarktet Alpiq mit 450 000 000 kWh (oder 450 GWh) mehr als ein Drittel und ist führende Anbieterin von KVA-Strom in der Schweiz.
