Im Herbst 2008 wird in Inwil LU die grösste Biogasanlage der Schweiz in Betrieb gehen. Aus 61'000 Tonnen biogenen Abfällen sollen im Jahr 18 Millionen Kilowattstunden Biogas produziert werden, das auf Erdgasqualität aufbereitet und direkt ins örtliche Erdgasnetz eingespeist wird. Daneben entstehen wertvoller Kompost und Dünger. Das produzierte Biogas, welches beispielsweise als CO2-neutraler Treibstoff von Erdgasfahrzeugen getankt werden kann, entspricht rund 1.8 Mio. Liter Diesel und reicht für den Betrieb von 2000 Erdgasautos mit einer jährlichen Kilometerleistung von ca. 12'000 km. Es kann aber auch im Wärmemarkt oder in Blockheizkraftwerken zur CO2-neutralen Beheizung und Kühlung von grösseren Objekten und zur zlmuaqyljytqrb Yebvdseeuy ozs xbtpubqr uxdeourhf nluqln.
