Neu gerechnetes Scale-Objektiv von Carl Zeiss für die Hirnforschung

Imaging bis 5,6 mm tief im Hirngewebe möglich

Mit dem vollständig neu gerechneten plan- apochromatischen 20x/1.0 VIS-IR Objektiv von Carl Zeiss ist es möglich, an einem konfokalen Laser Scanning- oder Multiphotonen-Mikroskop 3D-Bilder von Nervenzellen bis zu 5,6 mm tief in intakten Geweben aufzunehmen - ohne Schnitte des Gehirnes anfertigen zu müssen. Damit können Ausläufer einzelner Nervenzellen dreidimensional dargestellt und deren Verknüpfungen abgebildet werden. Die nun erreichbare Eindringtiefe liegt fünf- bis zehnmal über der eines Multiphotonen-Mikroskops mit konventioneller Optik in unbehandeltem Gewebe.

Nervenzellen tief im Gehirn mikroskopisch darzustellen und verfolgen zu können ist ein wichtiger Schritt in der Entschlüsselung des Schaltplanes des Gehirnes.
