Karlsruher Scheinwerfer machen Autofahren sicherer

Initiative "Deutschland - Land der Ideen" zeichnet gemeinsam mit Deutscher Bank Assistenzsystem für Autofahrten im Dunklen aus

Am Samstag, dem 31. März, wird das Institut für Mess- und Regelungstechnik am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) mit seinem Projekt "Markierendes Licht" als "Ausgewählter Ort 2012" ausgezeichnet. Wissenschaftler des KIT haben für Autofahrer ein Assistenzsystem entwickelt, das bei Dunkelheit Menschen, Tiere oder Objekte am Straßenrand sichtbar macht. Mittels Bildanalyse wird der Randbereich von Straßen während der Fahrt überwacht. Erscheint beispielsweise ein Reh am Straßenrand, erzeugen besonders lichtstarke, in die Scheinwerfer integrierte LED-Lampen einen Lichtkegel. Das Tier wird gut sichtbar für den Autofahrer hervorgehoben. Damit trägt das Fahrerassistenzsystem zu einer erhöhten Sicherheit im Straßenverkehr bei.
