"Klimagas Plus" läuft höchst erfolgreich an

Als weiteren Baustein in ihrer Klimastrategie bietet die Saar Ferngas seit kurzem unter dem Namen "Klimagas Plus" ein CO2 neutrales Erdgasprodukt an. Dieses Angebot kann das Unternehmen realisieren, indem es Emissionsminderungszertifikate im Umfang der klimaneutral gelieferten Erdgasmengen einkauft und diese dann transparent stilllegt. Die derzeit verfügbaren Zertifikate stammen aus einem deutschen VER (Verified Emissions Reduction)-Projekt, dem "Schmack Biogasprojekt", und einem CDM (Clean Development Mechanism)-Projekt in Brasilien, bei dem durch die effizientere Verwertung von Rückständen aus der Zuckerrohrverarbeitung 13.000 t C02 pro Jahr vermieden werden.
