Ericsson wird einen weiteren Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award der National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in den USA erhalten. Mit der aktuellen Auszeichnung wird die Arbeit des Unternehmens auf dem Gebiet der Interoperabilität des Komprimierungsstandards JPEG2000 gewürdigt.

Im Rahmen seines Engagements für offene Standards hat Ericsson - gemeinsam mit anderen Herstellern - daran gearbeitet, die nötigen Verfahren zu entwickeln, um die bisherigen Nachteile der unterschiedlichen proprietären Systeme bei der JPEG2000-Technologie zu vermeiden. JPEG2000-Kompressionsverfahren kommen vor allem bei TV-Übertragungen zum Einsatz, leiden bisher aber unter einer eingeschränkten Interoperabilität dieser Lösungen.
