Progress 44 erreicht nicht vorgesehene Umlaufbahn

Der gestern um 15:00 MESZ in Baikonour gestartete Raumtransporter ISS Progress 44, der zur Versorgung der Internationalen Raumstation ISS vorgesehen war, erreichte seine Umlaufbahn nicht und stürzte über Sibirien (Russland) ab. Fünf Minuten und 50 Sekunden nach dem Start wurde eine "nicht-nominale Situation" gemeldet mit einem einhergehenden Verlust der Telemetrie.

Das Raumfahrzeug war mit 2,9 t Versorgungsgütern für die Raumstation beladen. Darunter befanden sich einige Ersatzteile für zwei Instrumente an Bord des europäischen Columbus-Labors.

Thomas Reiter, ESA Direktor für Bemannte Raumfahrt und Missionsbetrieb, verfolgt die aktuelle Entwicklung und prüft mögliche Konsequenzen für zukünftige ESA-Missionen.
