Am 1. Februar 2007 unterzeichneten der Präsident der Fachhochschule Amberg-Weiden, Prof. Dr. Erich Bauer, und der Rektor der Fachhochschule Aschaffenburg, Prof. Dr. Wilfried Diwischek, in Aschaffenburg den Kooperationsvertrag zur Durchführung eines neuen Masterstudiengangs "Business and Law" mit dem Abschluss "Master of Laws". Da beide Hochschulen schon seit längerer Zeit intensive Kontakte pflegen und es bereits gemeinsame Lehrveranstaltungen zwischen den Fakultäten Betriebswirtschaft in Weiden sowie Maschinenbau/Umwelttechnik/Patentingenieurwesen in Amberg mit der Fakultät Wirtschaft und Recht in Aschaffenburg gibt, lag es nahe, die Kompetenzen und Kapazitäten nun auch in einem konsekutiven Masterstudiengang "Business and Law" zu bündeln.
