Organische Materialien ermöglichen vielfältige neue Bauelemente der Informationstechnik. Displays auf Basis organischer Leuchtdioden (OLED) sind bereits im Markt etabliert. Weitere Anwendungen sind unter anderem OLED-Beleuchtungslösungen und Beschilderungen sowie Organische Solarzellen. OLEDs können auf verschiedenste Untergründe aufgebracht werden. Hier bietet insbesondere die OLEDon-CMOS Integration erstmals die Möglichkeit, hocheffiziente Leuchtquellen gemeinsam mit Photodetektoren in CMOS Untergründe zu integrieren und damit vollintegrierte optoelektronische Anwendungen auf Siliziumbasis zu realisieren. Neben klassischen Anwendungen in der optischen Sensorik können auf diese Weise auch neuartige Lösungen für die personalisierte Informationsdarstellung geschaffen werden.
