Göttinger Wissenschaftler gewinnen internationalen Programmier-Wettbewerb

Software-Lösung für Open Source-Projekt „R“ zur statistischen Datenverarbeitung ausgezeichnet

Mitglieder der Computational Statistics Group (CSG) an der Georg-August-Universität haben einen international ausgeschriebenen Programmier-Wettbewerb gewonnen. Prämiert wurde eine von ihnen entwickelte Software-Lösung für das Statistik-Programm „R“ – ein Open Source-Projekt zur statistischen Daten-Analyse, das inzwischen mehr als 1.000 Programmerweiterungen von Experten aus aller Welt umfasst. Für den Wettbewerb erarbeiteten CSG-Leiter Prof. Dr. Walter Zucchini und die Göttinger Wissenschaftler Daniel Adler, Dr.Oleg Nenadic und Christian Gläser ein neues Verfahren, mit der sich die bisherigen Beschränkungen bei den zu verarbeitenden Datenmengen in „R“ überwinden lassen.
