Neuer Sonderforschungsbereich "Hybrid Inorganic/Organic Systems for Opto-Electronics (HIOS)" an der Humboldt-Universität bewilligt

Ab Juli 2011 wird es in Berlin und Potsdam den neuen Sonderforschungsbereich (SFB) 951 "Hybrid Inorganic/Organic Systems for Opto-Electronics (HIOS)" geben. Im Focus stehen künstliche Hybridmaterialien, die aus Halbleitern, konjugierten organischen Molekülen und metallischen Nanostrukturen bestehen. Durch das Zusammenspiel dieser sehr unterschiedlichen Komponenten entstehen neue chemische und physikalische Eigenschaften, die verstanden, beherrscht und schließlich ausgenutzt werden sollen, um immer komplexere opto-elektronische Funktionen in immer kleineren Raumgebieten zu verwirklichen. Denn ob es um Computer, Solarzellen oder auch Lichtquellen geht, die Anforderungen an die Leistungsfähigkeit von Technik wachsen ständig und das Potenzial herkömmlicher Materialien ist heute bereits weitgehend ausgeschöpft.
