Das neue seriell zu GPRS Gateway GT-541 von ICPDAS erlaubt es, Geräte mit RS-232 oder RS-485 Schnittstelle über GPRS an einen Applikationsserver anzubinden. Dies ermöglicht es, die zentrale Fernüberwachung bzw. Fernsteuerung von räumlich getrennten Prozess-E/A-Systemen mit RS-232 oder RS-485 Schnittstelle über das Mobilfunknetz einfach und kostengünstig zu realisieren. Das GT-541 verfügt über eine RS-232 und eine RS-485 Schnittstelle, die parallel betrieben werden können. Nach Installation des mitgelieferten virtuellen COM-Treibers auf dem Host-PC kann ein serieller Port des GT-541 softwaremäßig wie ein Standard-COM-Port des PCs angesprochen werden, obwohl physikalisch die Datenübertragung über GPRS erfolgt.
