Besonders bei teuren Artikeln wie Elektronikerzeugnissen und Schmuck, aber auch bei allen anderen Käufen im Internet sollten die Verbraucher genau hinschauen." Dies rät der Vorsitzende des Gütesiegelboards der Initiative D21 e.V., Roland Appel, den Verbrauchern.

Eine Orientierungshilfe für Verbraucher bieten die von der Initiative D21 empfohlenen Gütesiegel "Trusted Shops GmbH", "Safer Shopping/TÜV Süd Management Services GmbH", "Euro- Handelsinstitut – Euro-Label" und "Datenschutz Nord GmbH".
