Vor kurzem hat die Advanced Tower Systems (ATS) aus Enschede in den Niederlanden einen Vertrag mit Siemens Wind Power über die Lieferung einer Windturbine vom Typ SWT2.3-93 für das Prototypen-Projekt mit dem innovativen Hybrid-Turm der ATS unterzeichnet. Der Aufbau des Turms sowie der Maschine im Testfeld der WINDTEST Grevenbroich in Nordrhein-Westfalen ist für September 2008 geplant.

Eigentümer des Projektes sind ATS sowie die juwi-Gruppe aus Rheinland-Pfalz.

ATS hat einen Hybridturm für Windenergie-Anlagen entwickelt, der im unteren Teil aus Spannbeton besteht; die Neuerung besteht darin, dass die Segmente vertikal geteilt sind.
