Der LTC3422 benutzt interne Schalter mit einem RDS(ON) von nur 0,20 Ohm (N-Kanal) und 0,24 Ohm (P-Kanal) zur Sicherung eines Wirkungsgrads von bis zu beachtlichen 96%. Die Vorrichtung zur echten Abtrennung des Ausgangs erlaubt eine komplette Entladung im Shutdown-Zustand. Sie begrenzt auch das Hochlaufen des Stroms beim Einschalten, wodurch die Eingangsspannungsversorgung nicht mit Spitzenströmen belastet wird. Zu den weiteren Besonderheiten zählen eine Anti-Klingel-Regelung, Kurzschlussschutz, programmierbarer Soft–Start und ein thermischer Schutz. Der LTC3422 eignet sich ideal für eine Aufwärtswandlung, die einen Ausgangsstrom von 700 mA liefern soll und wo die Kleinheit der Lösung sowie beste Batterieenergienutzung wichtig sind.
