Linear Technology Corporation präsentiert den LTC3218, einen induktivitätslosen Hochstrom-Weißlicht-LED-Treiber, der Ströme bis zu 400mA liefern kann. Der Chip hat eine Multi-Mode-Architektur, die die Spannung über der LED-Stromquelle überwacht und automatisch zwischen 1x- oder 2x-Boost-Modus umschaltet, wenn ein ILED-Dropout erkannt wird. Der LTC3218 enthält einen High-Side-Strommesswiderstand zur Regelung des LED-Stroms. Dadurch wird die Dropout-Spannung niedrig gehalten und der Chip kann länger im 1x-Modus verbleiben. Dies maximiert den Wirkungsgrad über den vollen Li-Ion/Polymer-Batterie-Spannungsbereich, verlängert die Batterielaufzeit und minimiert das Rauschen. Der LTC3218 liefert einen gepulsten Strom bis zu 400mA für Kamerablitze oder einen Dauerstrom bis zu 150mA für Kamerahilfslichter. Der Chip lässt
