Die Linear Technology Corporation präsentiert den LTC2859 und den LTC2861, Halbduplex- und Vollduplex-RS485-Transceiver mit zuschaltbaren integrierten Abschlusswiderständen. Bei herkömmlichen RS485-Netzwerken ist ein 120-Ohm Abschlusswiderstand (sog. Termination) notwendig, der vom Anwender auf der Grundlage des physikalischen Layouts der Twisted-Pair-Leitungsdrähte und der Anordnung der Nodes platziert wird. Sollte ein weiterer Bus-Ausbau nötig werden, dann muss der Abschlusswiderstand durch den Anwender an eine andere geeignete Stelle verlegt werden. Durch das über die Software gesteuerte Zuschalten oder Abtrennen der integrierten Abschlusswiderstände innerhalb vom LTC2859/LTC2861 ist jetzt ein korrekter Abschluss der Nodes möglich, ohne dass der Anwender einen physikalischen Schaltungseingriff durchzuführen hat.
