Die MediGene AG (Frankfurt, Prime Standard: MDG) wird vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) im Rahmen der Fördermaßnahme "KMU-innovativ: Biotechnologie - BioChance" Forschungsgelder in Höhe von knapp 600.000 Euro über einen Zeitraum von drei Jahren erhalten.

Der Wettbewerb "BioChancePlus" soll das Innovationspotential kleiner und mittlerer Unternehmen (KMU) im Bereich Spitzenforschung stärken. Zweck der Fördermaßnahme ist außerdem die Stärkung der Technologiebasis von Biotechnologie-Unternehmen, um damit eine wichtige Voraussetzung für deren nachhaltiges Wachstum zu schaffen. MediGenes Forschungsaktivitäten im Bereich Immunologie erfüllen die Förderkriterien "Exzellenz", "Innovationsgrad" und "Bedeutung des Beitrags zur Lösung aktueller gesellschaftlich relevanter Fragestellungen" und werden daher bezuschusst.
