Firecomms, Hersteller von Halbleitern für die optische Nachrichtenübertragung erweitert seine Familie der OptoLock® Transceiver und stellt mit dem EDL1000T-220 den weltweit ersten Gigabit Ethernet over POF (Plastic Optical Fiber) Transceiver vor.

"Dieses Produkt verbindet die kinderleichte Handhabung bei der Installation und dem Anschluss von POF-Fasern mit den zukünftig geforderten Datenraten im Gigabit-Bereich", sagt Hugh Hennessy VP Sales Firecomms.

Das Design basiert auf Firecomms bewährter VCSEL (vertical cavity surface emitting laser) Technologie. Die Transceiver, ausgelegt für Datenraten bis 2.5Gbps, können direkt am Ethernet Phy betrieben werden.
